Documentary Proposal

This is the first draft for the email I will be sending to artists, record labels, venues etc. to enquire about participating in the documentary I'll be making for my work. Likelihood is that after getting some feedback from tutors, there will be alterations to make to give myself the best chance with the contacts.


Hello

My name Jonathan, I'm a photography student in my third year at Blackburn College. For my degree work this year, I am focusing on musicians and music as a topic; I'm writing to ask if you would be interested in being involved, or know any artists that would be.
I'll be doing documentary styled work, producing a series of images linking together. Whilst working with the musicians, I was thinking of documenting their musical lives, this will include practices and production, travel, before, during and after concerts, and if possible, the bands on tour. Mainly, my work will be photography based, but I think with this theme, there's a lot of room for moving image and sound to be involved too.
The documentaries will be taking place over the coming months, and will be finished at latest by April/May, and a copy of all the final photographs can be sent over, also around that time. If you're interested, I am based in Darwen (about an hour from Manchester), but can arrange travel depending on the distance.

Hi,

This documentary project will record musical lives, and how music becomes all encompassing, touching upon every aspect of a musician.

Because of the deadlines imposed by the qualification, this project will commence within the next week or so. If you are interested I would be grateful if you could contact me as soon as possible. Photographs produced during this assignment will be available to anybody involved and could be used freely as promotional material.
